Couldn’t find any good patterns or photo inspo on Pinterest or Google so just changed the classic FGN poncho pattern a bit (see last two photos above). Instructions below:
Fold vintage towel in half. Sew armholes 10 inches from top and 6 inches in and down to bottom of hem. Cut straight up middle and hem with towel itself or another vintage towel/fabric. Add a pocket!
Sent this to mom because her friend gave us the blue towel over 40 years ago when she worked for the towel company but her first response was still about how good it is to have a pocket. It was the smaller blue one, the large main vintage towel, made by Callaway Grand Salon, was found in a by the pound thrift in Arizona during the gem show in 2020.
